Marceline Beach House by Rural Route Escapes

Location: Basiawan, Sta Maria, Davao Occidental
Nearest Airport: General Santos & Davao City
Closest Airport by Commute: Davao City
Closest Airport by Private Car: General Santos
Wifi: Up to 200 mbps

Marceline Beach House is perfect for anyone who loves living by the sea. Though it is not white sand, the view and the quiet neighborhood offers a relaxing time-off from all the buzz in the city.

This is Rural Route Escapes “residence” while waiting for another rural spot in Samal! The hosts can accommodate cooking for guests because going around on your own is quite expensive for commute. But if you have your own car or motorcycle, downtown and the nearest 7 Eleven is about 15 to 20 minutes away.

Marceline Beach House offers simple teepee huts or rooms and even outdoor or indoor tents! It has a vast space and you can choose to work anywhere. Occasionally, when there are no guests, the beach house is perfect for event venues like birthdays or weddings.

The Rooms

There are 3 teepee rooms currently offered here. One regular bedroom is also available. All rooms can accommodate 2 pax comfortably.

Rooms have one fan each, along with a towel and a malong (for blanket). These rooms can be offered to couples or friends. Solo travelers may opt to hire the entire room or share the room with another nomad.

Enjoy the tents!

Besides the teepee rooms, tents are offered for your best rural experience. You may choose to put up your tents indoor (at the universal function hall) or under the big shade. Or enjoy the breeze while facing the sea!

The tents also comes with foam, pillows, a towel and a malong just like the teepee rooms. The tents are best for solo travelers and couples, too.

Bathrooms or comfort rooms and the dipping pool

Whether you are staying at the teepee or by the tents, bathrooms are separate from the rooms. There are many bathrooms in the beach resort.

There are two main bathing areas and several comfort rooms. Water here is fresh flowing spring so you don’t have to worry about ever using too much water. One of the bathing rooms has a concrete bathtub you can enjoy if you don’t like the beach.

Some people say it’s a swimming pool but for us it’s definitely not. Could be for the kids but we prefer to call it our dipping pool.

It’s wide enough to have several people on it but it’s too low for anyone to swim in. Thus, it’s best to relax and dip on it with the fresh spring water flowing.

Marceline Beach House offers you...

… living by the seaside while connected to the digital world.

We offer simple meals based on what’s available on the market and we cook our food by fire! If you want to do your own cooking, we could have you rent one of our butane cooking sets.

We offer what locals sell too like ice candy, ice popsicles and others. We also join them when they’re fishing sometimes, and you can join, too.

Where can you work and play?

You may work on your room, on the function hall or anywhere within the beach house premises. If you find your favorite spot, you can move the table and chair wherever you want, too. You can play badminton, volleyball or other sports in the wide space or even along the beach.

Our Rates

Given the distance and the rural lifestyle of the beach house, we offer this place at a very affordable rate for any traveling nomad.

  • Minimum Stay, 3 days: P1000/pax
  • 5 days stay: P1500/pax
  • More than 1 week stay: P1200/pax per week

This includes internet use, bed, towel, malong (blanket) and a pillow. Whether you prefer to stay in a tent or in a teepee room the rates are the same. First reservation, first served. Meaning, in the event that the teepee rooms are full, only tents would be available. Drinking water (mineral) and of course use of bathroom facilities and other amenities on site is free.

Another advantage at Marceline Beach House is that we set our maximum capacity to only 10 working nomads. We want everyone to have enough space to work around and not feel crowded.

Karaoke night or karaoke time would be setup depending on the best available time for everyone in the beach house. We know how different the working time for everyone online so this is discussed based on the best time for everyone without disturbing anyone working.

Meals are between P99 – P150, depending on what is available and the menu is shared ahead of time – a day or two before. Drinks may vary from softdrinks, juice, or fruitshakes depending on what are available.

There are restaurants available in town for those who would like to go out at night or enjoy a meal outside the beach house. Going to town is about 15 to 20 minutes travel by tricycle.
